A trip to visit Silver City, New Mexico, has been on my list of “suenos” for a very long time. My mother’s family was from Silver City. They all migrated to Los Angeles, where I was born in 1945, except for one aunt. My mother also often mentioned Santa Rita and am researching the history of both cities. I am also a writer who has not yet published a book, but am working on a memoir. I live in the Santa Cruz mountains, near Los Gatos, the city, and am wondering if the plane crash you write about happened in my area. This is the first I am hearing of the crash and am definitely going to read your book. I intend to make plans, maybe, to go to Silver City to the writing festival and hope to see your presentation.
Thank you for your thoughtful comment, Carolina! We hope to see you here in September!

Hi Carolina, I look forward to possibly meeting you in person. To answer your question, no, this Los Gatos Canyon is located on the eastern slope of the Diablo Mountain Range, near the town of Coalinga in Fresno County, in the San Joaquin Valley. It’s not too far away from the city of Los Gatos, but it’s not the same place. Thanks again! Hope to see you there!!
