The workshop will be held on Saturday, April 15, from 10 am-noon, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City, 3845 N Swan St, Silver City, NM.

No matter what category of fiction writers are working in, they need to create unforgettable characters. Kris Neri will show attendees how to create characters from their deepest cores, through all their layers — characters that seem as unforgettable as real people. The workshop will be equally valuable for memoir and creative nonfiction writers as they are for novelists and short story writers. Kris will also share the techniques for finding characters’ unique voices.

Kris Neri’s latest novel, Hopscotch Life, featuring quirky protagonist Plum Tardy, is a New Mexico-Arizona Book Award winner. She also writes the Tracy Eaton mysteries, starring the daughter of eccentric Hollywood stars, and the Samantha Brennan & Annabelle Haggerty magical series, featuring a questionable psychic who teams up with a goddess/FBI agent, as well as thrillers, and short stories. Kris’s novels have been finalists for such prestigious awards as the Agatha, Anthony, Macavity, Lefty, Derringer, and others. Kris is a four-time New Mexico-Arizona Book Award winner for her own novels, as well as books to which she’s contributed. She teaches writing online for the Writers’ Program of the UCLA Extension School and is one of their highest rated instructors.
